Linux Software Engineer (3)
Advanced fluency with C, UNIX kernels, Enterprise Linux distribution, bash,
perl, and/or python
As a member of the software engineering division, candidates will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing requirements. The main focus of our development revolves around the Linux kernel and the standard C libraries. Excellent problem solving and analytical skills are essential to break down the complex issues we see involving OS and process interaction. In addition, sustaining group engineers are encouraged to work on and contribute to open source development projects.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced/expert fluency with C Experience working with UNIX kernels, or demonstrably similar large software projects
Operational knowledge of Enterprise Linux distributions is expected (e.g. RHEL4, SLES9,
CentOS) Knowledge of bash, perl, and/or python are a bonus.
Duties and tasks are varied and complex requiring independent judgment.
Preferred Qualifications: BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
